Dear Meredith Rollins,
I am a student at CSU Sacramento studying Journalism and Photography.
I would like to pitch a story idea about a recent study that discovered high levels of the toxic material cadmium in jewelry being sold to adults and children.
Testing on adult jewelry began after an Associated Press investigation reported that pieces of cheap children’s jewelry imported from China contained up to 91 percent of cadmium.
Many of your readers are women and have children. Although, adults would have to be exposed to cadmium over a long period of time before seeing any side effects, children are at risk because they tend to bite or suck on things, including jewelry.
I would not only provide information of the study and the negative effects of cadmium exposure but I will also provide a list of retailers that currently sell jewelry that is laden with cadmium.
I will also consult women of all ages along with parents and their children and offer the public's reaction on the matter.
I can produce the story as soon as you may need it. I look forward to hearing from you and will follow-up with you in a couple of weeks.
Thank you for your time,
Bali Martindale
